William R. Hambrecht
Founder, Chairman and CEO
In 1968, Bill co-founded Hambrecht & Quist, an investment banking firm specializing in emerging high-growth technology companies. He founded WR Hambrecht + Co in 1998, introducing OpenIPO® as a means to level the playing field for both investors and issuers. Bill has served as a director for numerous private and public companies. He currently serves as a Director for Motorola Inc. and AOL Inc., is on the Board of Trustees for The American University of Beirut and serves on the Advisory Council to The J. David Gladstone Institute. In October, 2006, Bill was inducted to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Bill graduated from Princeton University.
Elizabeth Hambrecht
Co-CEO
Prior to joining WRH+Co, Elizabeth was employed by Salon Media Group first as CFO when she joined in 2003 and, in 2005, stepping up to President and CEO. Before joining Salon, Elizabeth was a co-founder and director of Asiacontent.com, a pioneer in Asia's Internet media and advertising industry. Prior to Asiacontent, she helped fund and launch Boom.com, Hong Kong's first electronic brokerage company, where she held the position of CFO from 1997 to 1998. Prior to Boom.com, Elizabeth was an equities analyst covering emerging markets at Goldman Sachs (Hong Kong) and before that at Baring Securities. Elizabeth is also a Trustee of the San Francisco Friends School and of Northern California Public Broadcast (NCPB). She graduated with a B.A. degree from Vassar College and studied Mandarin at the Taipei Language Institute.
Barrie Graham
Barrie Graham has over 20 years of experience in commercial banking, having served as President and CEO of Exchange Bank, a $1.7b community bank, and as a Senior Manager at Wells Fargo. During his tenure at Exchange Bank, assets, deposits and profits more than doubled while the Bank earned the highest regulatory rating for 13 of the 14 years. At Wells Fargo, Barrie was the Senior Vice President responsible for Business Development for the Commercial Banking Group. Barrie managed BDO.s in 21 Regional Commercial Offices and his group generated over $1b in new commitments annually. Barrie is Chairman of the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington and a former Board member of the California Bankers Association. Prior to joining WRH+CO, Barrie was President and CEO of hybridCore Homes, a disruptive start-up which incorporates modular factory and site built construction which dramatically reduces the time and cost of building single family homes. Barrie is a Board member of Empire Law School and numerous non profits. He has a BS in Industrial Engineering from Clarkson University, an MBA in Finance from Golden Gate University and is a graduate of the Executive Management Program at Harvard and the Pacific Coast Banking School. Barrie is a former Marine Infantry Officer.
Michael H. Black
Vice President, Investment Banking
Michael Black is a Vice President of Corporate Finance at WR Hambrecht + Co. Prior to joining WR Hambrecht + Co, Michael was a member of the Global Capital Markets and Mergers and Acquisitions Group at Hunton & Williams LLP in New York. While at Hunton, he supported senior staff in the execution of a variety of debt, equity and M&A transactions. Michael holds a B.A. in History from Williams College, and an M.B.A. in Corporate Finance and Strategy from the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California.
Creighton Reed
Vice President, Investment Banking
Prior to joining WRH+Co, Creighton consulted for Rocket Lawyer, an internet start-up providing legal documents and services to small businesses, consumers and lawyers, where he helped develop and launch an inside sales team. Previously, Creighton spent four years at Advent Software leading the market development and trading product marketing groups. At Renaissance Technologies, a $15 billion quantitative hedge fund, Creighton was an investment analyst for a $2 billion fundamental investing group. In this capacity, he performed due diligence on over 500 hedge funds worldwide and led investments totaling $270 million. As a Captain in the US Marine Corps, Creighton served twice on active duty including Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom. Creighton has a BA from Harvard University and received his MBA from Stanford.
Matthew Regan
Managing Director, Retail Brokerage
Prior to joining WR Hambrecht + Co in 1999, Matt was at Fiserv Securities, formerly BHC Securities, where he worked on a number of interesting projects including the development of the OpenIPO auction for WR Hambrecht + Co. Matt is a graduate of St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto, and received a master’s degree from Villanova University.
Whitney J. White
Chief Technology Officer
Whitney joined WR Hambrecht + Co in April 2000 from Merrill Lynch where he worked on strategic projects in their Capital Markets Technology group. In his tenure at WRH+Co, Whitney has been central to the execution of all auction transactions. In his role as Chief Technology Officer, Whitney led the evolution and development of the firm's auction platforms. In his current role in the Auction Products Group, Whitney is responsible for auction mechanics and transaction execution. Whitney graduated with honors from Hamilton College with a BA in Computer Science and Psychology and holds dual MBA degrees from Columbia University and the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.
